relativistic total energy (Definition)

The relativistic total energy E of a particle is defined as

     ----mc2-----
E  = ∘  -----2--2
        1 − v ∕c
(1)

One often finds this relationship in the limit of low speeds (v << c) with the famous equation

E0 = mc2
