``Re: types for PP'' by bloftin on 2005-08-20 13:31:20
Welcome!  Before adding the types, should they be combined as one type or should we keep them separate:

Some examples might help us

Physical quantities: mass, time, length, electric current

Some corresponding units then are

Units: kg, s, m, ampere

The International Standard ISO 31, describes the use of quantities and units, which leads me to think we should have 1 type encompassing both.  However, not sure of what to call it.  Possibilities:

Standards
Physical quantities and units
(Units and Standards) 06.20.Fn

There are also fundamental constants and what types are they.  Maybe an overarching type like Measurement which will include all three, since a measurement incorporates some sort of physical quantity with a unit and a fundamental constant is a qty and a unit.  The classification clarifies most of the differences so it would be nice to come up with 1 type.  Thoughts?
