Hi, I'm supposed to be exploring the behaviour of psi when V varies. In this case, V(x) is proportional to x. So I know that when (E-V(x)) increases, lambda decreases, or equivalently f increases, and the amplitude decreases. So you get a dampening effect and psi(x) is curvier as x increases, ie a dampened sine curve. What I'm trying to figure out is why this happens. If you imagine what psi*psi would look like, you would find that psi*psi has its largest maximum when E-V(x) is small. Why would it be more likely to find the particle where E-V(x) is small? Is this because its energy is higher here?
