Please check the 4th equation from above (the one supposed to be written in operator form). First, where did you use the momentum operator? Also revise the equation, as it does not match the one before it.. The first term would be positive, and the second one will be -kx/2m which is wrong. |

Correct, I left an extra minus sign out front of the equation where the minus sign will come from the i^2 term in denominator. The momentum operator is from Griffiths, although you may be use to the form from wikipedia,

but hbar/i * d/dx = -i * hbar * d/dx
This article originated to help someone with some homework and it is somewhat incomplete.
